1. General
Effective May 1, 2009, ARCA offers a Ten (10) Year term workmanship warranty against actual roof leaks for accepted low-slope commercial roofing systems under contract to Alberta Roofing Contractors Association contractor members within the Province of Alberta. Only commercial low-slope and architectural standing seam metal roofing projects incorporating ARCA accepted roofing materials, applied to ARCA’s application standards with owner paid independent quality assurance inspection are eligible for issuance of the Ten (10) Year Low-Slope Warranty Certificate.
Inspection of the roofing system during application by an owner paid independent ARCA accepted roofing inspector is mandatory for Warranty Certificate issuance.
Ten (10) Year Warranty Certificate issuance for both new and re-roofing commercial projects will only be issued when specified or requested by the building owner. The warranty fee is calculated as a percentage of the final contract price based on the ARCA Trade Definitions. Minimum warranty fees apply.
The warranty fee provides for an inspection of the roofing system by an independent ARCA accepted roofing inspector on or about the second anniversary of the effective date of the warranty. A written report is prepared and a copy is provided to the building owner.
Under the terms of the warranty, workmanship-related leak repairs will be carried out at no cost to the building owner. Full coverage of warranty repairs by ARCA is provided in the instance that the roofing contractor is unable or unwilling to carry out their responsibilities under the terms of the warranty.
2. Commercial Low-Slope Roofing
For year’s one (1) and two (2) of the warranty term, the ARCA contractor member is responsible for the repair of actual roof leaks pertaining to faulty workmanship as well as the repair of any contractor related roofing anomalies noted on the second anniversary roofing inspection report. Claims occurring during the first two (2) years of the warranty term shall be made directly to the roofing contractor of record.
Leak claims occurring during year’s three (3) through ten (10) shall be submitted directly to ARCA in accordance with our Consumer Warranty Claim Procedure found on the ARCA website.
ARCA assumes responsibility for the repair of actual workmanship-related leaks occurring during years three (3) through ten (10) of the warranty term.
3. Residential Roofing
A commercial Low-Slope Ten (10) Year Warranty Certificate is offered for residential roofing projects with independent quality assurance inspection.
The 10 year warranty is not eligible for steep-slope roofing.
